Opened to the public in November 2000, the
Museum of the City and Territory of Cori is proposed as a reference point for
the knowledge and enhancement of the historical, archaeological, artistic and
cultural heritage of a large sector, among the less known, of Southern Lazio,
at the crossroads between the Provinces of Rome, Latina and Frosinone.
The exhibition narrates, through general summaries and thematic insights, the historical evolution of the Lepini Mountains territory, on a chronological arc of over thirty-five centuries, from prehistory to the modern age.
The exhibition is spread over three floors covering an area of about 1000 square meters and includes a collection of over 500 original objects including inscriptions, statues, ceramics, bronzes from prehistoric times to the Roman Empire; archive documents from the Renaissance to the modern era; prints of the '700 and '800; and also more than 30 faithful copies of vases, bronzes, inscriptions and coins; 4 models; more than 150 large and very large format photographic reproductions of monuments, frescoes, sculptures, historical maps, aerial and satellite shots; over 100 explanatory panels with more than 500 illustrations.
